Caldeira do Mosteiro
Caldeira is a small place in the parish of Mosteiro, Lajes das Flores, consisting of about a dozen houses and haylofts. It is set into the outer wall of a volcanic caldera of the same name, in the low-lying area that allows the passage of Ribeira da Caldeira. This stream, swelled by two tributaries that wind between the houses, descends in small leaps to the sea, passing through Fajã de Lagoarda.
Calmos - who we are
Calmos was created on the island of Flores with the purpose of reviving Caldeira do Mosteiro, promoting the heritage, culture, and Florentine and Azorean memory.
Teresa Salema and Manuel Menezes de Sequeira, founding partners, first visited the Azores in 1991. For over 20 years they returned as tourists, walking trails between fajãs and calderas, sailing the crystal-clear waters in nautical activities.
We have created a set of activities and experiences designed for those who want to know, feel, and live this place authentically. Here, every step is an encounter with the past, every landscape holds a memory, and every story is a bridge between times.
More than a setting of rare beauty, Caldeira do Mosteiro is a space of stories, traditions, and living heritage. Through our tourism animation proposals — which include interpretive walks, guided visits, and cultural experiences — we invite you to immerse yourself in this unique territory, where nature and culture intertwine.
